Personally, I get SUCH a rise out of bands covering other artists’ or bands’ songs.  How’s THIS for a double-dip, though?  Fun. and Hayley Williams came together recently to perform Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” and we have the video!  Everything starts out alright, but frontman Nate Ruess can’t reach the same range as Gotye during the chorus, and by the time Hayley (who only appears via prerecorded vocals) joins in, the whole number turns shaky and comes off like karaoke. As overplayed as it might be, we’ll stick with the original, thanks.

While letting my lunch digest, and taking calls about the most recent of local scholastic bomb threats, I saw on my Twitter feed that Katy Perry had awakened (around 11am California time, to re-tweet the movie poster for the upcoming “Katy Perry: Part of Me” tour movie/documentary.  According to USA Today, she’s been filming footage on her tour for more than a year, now.   “This poster is the perfect representation of what my film is about — making dreams a reality, regardless of the obstacles along the journey,” the singer says in a statement.

Donna Summer, the Grammy-winning disco diva who charted with hits like “Bad Girls”, “Hot Stuff” and “Last Dance” in the 1970s, has reportedly died at the age of 63 following a battle with cancer. She was said to be in Florida at the time of her death, and was focusing on completing her first studio album since 2008′s Crayons.  According to TMZ, sources say Summer had been trying to keep the extent of her illness quiet. Kelly Clarkson appeared to be having a ball at Tuesday night’s (May 15) Entertainment Weekly and ABC Upfront VIP Party. The American Idol alum wore a big grin — along with a fantastic dress — on the red carpet, as she laughed and hammed it up with her fellow Duets judge Robin Thicke.  It was just the excitement at her upcoming reality show (debuting May 24 at 8 p.m. EST), or the fact that 30 looks darn good on the “Stronger” siren, but Kelly was simply radiant.  Check out the gallery HERE>>

Jennifer Lopez has got the power. The singer, dancer, fashionista and reality show judge has topped Forbes‘ annual Celebrity 100 list, unseating last year’s power player, Lady Gaga. Though many other entertainers raked in more money than her — runner-up Oprah Winfrey boasts earnings of $165 million, triple of Lopez’s $52 million — Forbes compiled their rankings by looking at other factors, such as social media; TV, film and radio presence; endorsement deals; and branding. And boy, does J.Lo have a whole lot of that.  ow that Jenny is pretty much owning the block, does she even need her American Idol gig anymore? Lopez is hinting that she doesn’t, and reports are surfacing that the “Dance Again” singer is saying adios to the show. More »
